Getting around Zambia: flights and transfers between our properties

Zambia is a big country, and most journeys between our properties combine a scheduled flight with a short road transfer. Here is how each destination connects, as our properties describe it in their own travel guides. Schedules change, so every leg is confirmed when we quote your journey.
Arriving in Zambia
From Johannesburg there are multiple daily flights to Lusaka (about 2 hours; Airlink, Proflight Zambia, South African Airways and Zambia Airways) and to Livingstone (about 1 hour 40 minutes; Airlink, Proflight Zambia and South African Airways). Kenya Airways and Proflight Zambia also fly from Cape Town to Livingstone, about 2 hours 50 minutes, roughly four times a week.
Livingstone and Victoria Falls
Maramba River Lodge is about 20 minutes by road from Livingstone’s airport, and the lodge can arrange the transfer. Proflight Zambia and Mahogany Air connect Lusaka and Livingstone in about an hour.
South Luangwa
Fly Lusaka to Mfuwe in about an hour with Proflight Zambia or Mahogany Air. Thornicroft Lodge is about 40 minutes from Mfuwe airport by road, with transfers on request.
The Lower Zambezi
Nsofu Lodge is about two hours by road from Lusaka, with lodge transfers on request. Elephant Crossing is about 4.5 hours by road via Chirundu, or a 30-minute flight to Royal Airstrip and an hour’s drive, or a boat transfer along the Zambezi from Nsofu Lodge.
Kitwe and Solwezi
Fly Lusaka to Ndola in 45–55 minutes for Shamba Lodge, about an hour from the airport by road. Proflight Zambia and Zambia Airways fly Lusaka to Solwezi in about an hour; Royal Solwezi Hotel is 10–15 minutes from Solwezi airport.
