Hippos in the Zambezi below the escarpment, Lower Zambezi

The group has two very different places to stay on the Lower Zambezi, and they combine naturally.

Nsofu Lodge

At the confluence of the Zambezi and Kafue rivers, about 17 km from Chirundu and two hours by road from Lusaka. Chalets and self-catering family villas, a pool and a children’s play area, catch-and-release tiger fishing with the lodge’s boats and guides, sunset cruises, birding, village walks and full-day excursions into the national park.

Elephant Crossing Safari Bushcamp

On the sandy shores of the Zambezi in the heart of the Chiawa Game Management Area, between the national park and the Zambezia Wildlife Sanctuary. Only five luxury tents in the Main Camp, each with a river-facing verandah, plus raised Birds’ Nests and a small campsite. Paraffin lamps and fire-heated water keep it simple and quiet.

By river between them

Elephant Crossing can be reached by boat from Nsofu Lodge. Our Lower Zambezi River Escape combines two nights at Nsofu with three at the camp.
